I've got you!
I’ve spent the last fifteen years shooting all over Tahoe, so I know the top photo locations—and I’ve picked up plenty of outfit advice along the way.

Here’s how to make the most of your session.

choosing a location

Every couple connects with different types of places, and your engagement photos should reflect that. Whether you’re drawn to open landscapes, tucked-away trails, or the shoreline at sunset, your location helps shape the mood of your session.

Emerald Bay Overlook

The Emerald Bay overlook is both romantic and adventurous, perfect for couples who love the outdoors and seek a memorable, scenic location for their photos.

A hillside with views of rugged peaks, surrounded by tall evergreens and bathed in soft, natural light.

South Lake, and requires hiking along a fairly steep hillside.

Hidden Beach, Incline

There is nothing more "iconic Tahoe" than the giant boulders along the North Shore. Capture your love with a lakeside engagement shoot, where the clear blue waters and rugged shoreline create a breathtaking backdrop. Perfect for couples who crave adventure and scaling rocks, this location offers stunning views and an intimate connection with nature.

North Shore, and requires a 1/4 to a 1 mile walk down, depending on where you can find parking.

Tahoe Meadows

Just off the Mount Rose Highway, this scenic meadow—surrounded by mountains and featuring an adorable wooden boardwalk—is only a short, easy walk away.

Wooden Boat on the Lake

You haven't seen Tahoe in its entirety yet, unless you've seen it from on the water. Enjoy a romantic ride amongst the water on one of Tahoe's wooden boats.

Round Hill Pines Beach

This beach has a softness about it. It's calm and relaxing nature makes it a romantic spot to take your engagement photos.

South Lake, this beach is a quick walk but requires a parking fee.

Eagle Rock, West Shore

This hike is an experience that every Tahoe lover should have. It's a ten minute hike up and arguably one of the most dramatic and expansive views of the lake.

West shore, and a ten minute steep hike.

Tahoe City Overlook

This location I love for its ease logistically. You are able to drive right up with very little walking involved. A lush forrest with a beautiful and expansive view of the lake.

Tahoe City, very little walking required.

Packer Lake

Packer Lake offers a variety of scenic views all in one spot. Tucked away in the Sierras, this small, serene lake often feels like your own private getaway. It’s easy to navigate, but be aware—you will lose cell service.

Truckee River

Another easily accessible location along a beautiful stretch of the Truckee River. It has such a peaceful, slightly nostalgic feel, with very minimal walking required—just past Palisades.

what to wear

Your engagement session should feel like you—elevated, effortless, and true to your connection. Here are a few curated guidelines to help you show up feeling confident and camera-ready.

Be Authentically You Choose pieces that reflect your style and make you feel amazing. Confidence photographs beautifully.

Coordinate, Don’t Match Think in tones and textures, not “matching outfits.” Aim for looks that feel cohesive and on the same level of formality.

Choose Timeless Tones Soft neutrals, earth hues, and classic colors always photograph best. Avoid neon and overly bright shades—they cast color on your skin and pull focus away from you.

Keep It Simple Minimal accessories allow your relationship to take center stage. Add one intentional piece—nothing that competes with the moment.

Honor the Setting Let the location guide your palette. Tahoe landscapes pair beautifully with natural, organic tones. If we’re wandering through the mountains, bring shoes you can move in.

Avoid Distractions Skip logos, busy patterns, and anything that feels trendy instead of timeless. And empty those pockets—phones and keys always show.

Comfort Is Luxury Choose outfits you can move, breathe, and embrace in. The right fit always elevates the final images.

Switch It Up Two looks—one elevated, one relaxed—give you variety. Flowy dresses are always a favorite and photograph beautifully in nature.

Treat Yourself Professional makeup is worth it. It enhances your natural glow and ensures flawless, even tones on camera.

Most of All—Have Fun Let this be a pause in the wedding planning—a chance to slow down, connect, and simply enjoy each other.

See you soon!
